Creation Care Resources
Below is a collection of resources that may spark ideas for additional lessons and activities on Creation Care. Some are simply cool resources for facts about nature while others provide a Christian perspective on current environmental issues. Our goal is to make sharing the wonders of God's Creation with your youth group easier. If you have any comments or suggestions please feel free to contact us. Enjoy!
The Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) is "a ministry dedicated to the care of God's creation. EEN seeks to equip, inspire, disciple, and mobilize God's people in their effort to care for God's creation."
They have a lot of additional resources on Creation Care, including some great talks by speakers from their conferences. Click here to check out Chris Wright's Keynote from the Global Day of Prayer 2012!
Flourish Magazine is a U.K. based publication on creation care that also hosts a variety of blogs and projects on their website. It is generally a good place to find information on the current happenings in creation care. They are currently working on a resource library that they promise will be up and running soon!
I particularly appreciate this websites emphasis on taking care of people as well as the environment.
Resources for Rethinking
Resources for Rethinking is a project of Learning for a Sustainable Future whose mission "is to promote, through education, the knowledge, skills, perspectives, and practices essential to a sustainable future." This is not a Christian organization.
This site has some amazing classroom activities (check out vermicomposting!) that can easily be transformed into a youth group outreach. Also, I would highly recommend signing up for their Nature Guide. It is a source of amazing facts about the creatures God has created.
For the really interested. A discussion by Dorothy Boorse on the Christian perspective on Climate Change and Poverty.
"This document covers four ideas: a biblical basis for Christian engagement, a look at changing environments around the world, insight into how environmental variances affect the poor, and thoughts on what Christians should do. Each section includes text and examples, and each ends with a reflection from an expert to further the discussion."
Young Evangelicals for Climate Action
Young Evangelicals for Climate Action (Y.E.C.A.) is a new group (founded February 2012) of young Christians "who are coming together and taking action to overcome the climate crisis as part of our Christian discipleship and witness."
Their site features a Call to Action, a way to book their speaking tour, and resources (which includes Prayer Event Organizing toolkit and videos). While this is a university aged group they have multimedia content that would be very suitable for a youth group.
Check out their Climate testimonies. This could be a very neat idea for a youth group.
